Todd Cook’s Musical Literacy Program is a fun engaging, high energy literacy lesson for students. Incorporating singing, movement, reading, games and song writing it is an entertaining and exciting way to deliver a literacy lesson. (Also great for teachers).
Todd Cook has been conducting his Musical Literacy program in primary schools across Australia for 6 years. He has successfully run his program in remote communities in the Northern Territory, Multicultural inner Melbourne and areas of regional Victoria.
He is a registered teacher and uses his guitar and singing ability to engage students and connects them to all the lyrical content of songs.
During his time in the teaching profession he has witnessed a number of students who have slipped through the cracks and can'’t read or write but can quite comfortably sing along with a number of their favourite songs. The aim of this program is to use this prior knowledge of literacy from songs and relate it to reading and writing.
Todd has produced a number of CD’s in schools over the years collaborating with students, covering songs from their topics at school, self esteem and the local area where they live.
